Alex Mackay

Alex Mackay graduated from the University of the West of England in 2005. Specialising in Motion Graphics, his end of year self directed studies was seen and appreciated by the Art Directors at Hello Charlie Bristol, which granted him a position at their small studio. Joining their fast passed production and pitching and producing title sequences for the likes of BBC and Endemol, was challenging and got him up to speed. One year later Alex was ready to move on and in a sense was disheartened with graphics for TV. He moved to Barcelona and joined the team at Deboom studio, where he managed and directed their projects. This gave him more creative freedom and allowed him to develop into new areas. In 2009 he moved to Berlin and took on a full-time position at St Elmos. Here he took charge of the motion graphics department. The project were broad and here he began to reintroduce his CG skills back into his workflow. A passion that had been brewing in the background for many years. In 2011 he went freelance, working at different studios all over Berlin, meeting fellow freelancers and networking. This also gave him more flexibility and free time to invest time into more interesting personal projects that would pave the way of future professional projects to come. At the beginning of 2015 he met his fellow associate and realised the potential of working together. Covering a wider spectrum of specialisms, gave way to being able to manage a broader range of projects. Sharing similar visions they direct each other and aid both the creative and production process.
